Company Overview

Nexus Analytica is an international energy consultancy and technology developer specializing in digital solutions for utilities and renewable energy systems. The company designs platforms and analytics tools that enable operators to monitor distributed energy assets, optimize grid performance, and support energy transition strategies. Nexus Analytica combines deep energy sector expertise with advanced software development capabilities. Its solutions are currently deployed across large renewable energy sites and utility digitalization programs.

Challenge

What problem is being addressed ?

Power systems are increasingly integrating distributed energy resources such as rooftop PVs, smart meters, and EV chargers, but utilities often lack digital tools to monitor and manage these assets effectively. Data from these devices is frequently fragmented across multiple systems, making it difficult for operators to analyze performance and respond to operational issues. Without integrated digital platforms, the rapid growth of renewable energy and distributed assets can reduce system visibility and operational efficiency.

Why this issue matters in the local energy ecosystem

Reliable grid monitoring and maintenance in near real-time is essential for utilities to successfully integrate renewable energy and maintain grid stability.

The Solution

What does the project do?

NexusGRID is a digital energy platform that aggregates real-time operational data from distributed energy assets and grid infrastructure into a single monitoring and analytics environment. The platform connects field devices such as smart meters, EV chargers, and rooftop PVs using interoperable communication protocols and advanced data management tools.

Operators can visualize system performance, detect anomalies, and optimize operations through intuitive dashboards and analytics.

What makes it innovative?

NexusGRID bridges the gap between operational technology (OT) and digital analytics by integrating heterogeneous energy assets, irrespective of manufacturer, into a unified data-driven platform.

How It Works

In practice :

NexusGRID operates as a cloud-based or on-premise monitoring platform that ingests real-time data from distributed energy assets and grid infrastructure, presenting it through advanced visualization dashboards. The system integrates field devices through IoT gateways, device drivers (such as DLMS for smart meters), OCPP connections for EV chargers, and relevant APIs supported by data analytics modules. The platform is used by utility operators, renewable energy park operators, distribution companies, and grid control centers to monitor and manage energy assets efficiently.

Key impacts:
• Improved visibility of distributed energy resources connected to the grid
• Enhanced operational efficiency through near real-time monitoring and analytics
• Faster detection of faults and performance issues across energy assets
• Better integration of renewable energy and emerging technologies such as EV charging infrastructure
• Strengthened data-driven decision-making for utilities and grid operators

 Examples of field applications :

  • Benban Solar Park (Egypt): NexusGRID supports monitoring and analytics for utility-scale solar infrastructure (~1.4 GW solar), including real-time data acquisition from site meters and digital support for the technical, legal, and financial management of PPAs.
  • Kerkennah Island (Tunisia, with STEG): NexusGRID supports integration of smart meters, rooftop PV systems, and EV charging infrastructure on Kerkennah island, with potential expansion to the Sfax region.
  • Private IPPs: NexusGRID supports independent power producers in monitoring and managing renewable energy plants through real-time operational data and analytics.
  • Pipeline of additional assets: planned for integration into the platform, including approximately 5 GW of solar capacity and 3 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS). Forme

Impact on the Ground

NexusGRID improves operational visibility and enables operators to monitor distributed energy assets in real time, reducing response times to operational issues. The platform supports utilities in digitalizing their infrastructure and integrating renewable energy sources more effectively. This contributes to greater efficiency, improved asset utilization, significant reduction in OPEX, and better decision-making for grid operators.

Key impacts:
• Reduced OPEX through automated monitoring and remote asset management
• Improved visibility of distributed energy resources connected to the grid
• Faster detection and resolution of faults across energy infrastructure
• Enhanced integration of renewable energy and distributed energy resources
• Strengthened data-driven decision-making for utilities and energy operators

Results so far

NexusGRID has evolved from a technology concept into a revenue-generating operational digital platform supporting renewable energy assets and utility digitalization initiatives across several countries in the MENA region. Early deployments demonstrate the platform’s ability to integrate heterogeneous energy infrastructure and deliver real-time operational insights to utilities and energy operators.

  • Deployed the platform to support monitoring and analytics for large-scale renewable energy infrastructure, such as assets connected to the Benban Solar Park in Egypt.
  • Implemented pilot deployments integrating distributed energy technologies such as smart meters, rooftop PV systems, and EV charging infrastructure within digital utility programs in North Africa.
  • Established NexusGRID as a digital platform supporting independent power producers (IPPs) in monitoring and managing renewable energy plants through real-time operational data and analytics across multiple MENA markets.

What’s next

NexusGRID is continuing to expand among utilities and renewable energy operators seeking advanced digital monitoring and analytics solutions. The platform is progressively integrating additional asset types, including wind generation and battery energy storage systems. Future development will focus on scaling NexusGRID to support larger distributed energy ecosystems and enhancing grid optimization through advanced AI-driven diagnostics and forecasting based on multi-asset operational data.
