Key flagship events of the Digital Energy community

Key flagship events of the Digital Energy community

The Digital Energy community brings together a diverse range of stakeholders engaged in the digital transformation of energy systems in Africa, including public actors, startups, donors, experts, financiers, and the winners of the Digital Energy Challenge.

Beyond access to resources and a collaborative platform, the community is brought to life throughout the year through complementary events — webinars, study presentations, bootcamps, and networking sessions — designed to foster knowledge sharing, peer exchange, and the emergence of concrete collaborations.

Some events may be held in a hybrid format, giving members the opportunity to attend in person, connect with other ecosystem actors, and extend discussions beyond the event itself. This human and relational dimension lies at the heart of the Digital Energy approach, creating spaces where connections are built and projects can take shape.

Interactive Thematic Webinars

Webinars are a core pillar of the Digital Energy community. They address strategic topics related to digital innovation in the energy sector, including technologies, use cases, field feedback, regulatory challenges, and market perspectives.

These webinars are designed as interactive exchange sessions. Participants can ask questions live, react to the discussions, and engage with experts, project leaders, and public stakeholders.

At the end of each session, community members gain access to:

  • the webinar replay,
  • key takeaways, presented through concise summaries and communication materials (short, visual, and educational formats),

designed to help participants grasp the essential insights without having to watch the full replay.

Events Dedicated to the Presentation of Studies

We produce and share in-depth studies focused on strategic topics within the energy sector, with the aim of shedding light on key challenges and emerging trends affecting the ecosystem.

These studies are designed to support decision-making, fuel strategic thinking, and structure discussions around digital innovation applied to energy.

To date, the community has benefited in particular from work on:

  • the use of geospatial data in network management,
  • the role of battery storage in the energy transition.

Upcoming publications will explore emerging topics, with a specific focus planned on artificial intelligence.

The results of these studies are shared through dedicated presentation events, often held in a hybrid format, combining online access with the opportunity for in-person participation for interested community members.

Matchmaking: Connecting Community Members

Another key pillar of the Digital Energy community is thematic matchmaking, directly accessible through the Community section of the platform.

In practice, members can submit a request for connection based on:

  • a specific topic (technology, use case, business model),
  • a country or geographical area.

Based on these requests, we organize a dedicated online session, published on the platform, bringing together:

  • the member who initiated the request and a relevant expert from the community,
  • other community members interested in the topic, who can register and join the discussion.

These sessions are open and collaborative, encouraging knowledge sharing and collective learning, while directly addressing the practical needs expressed by community members.

Collaborative AI Workshops & Skills Development

New in 2026

Starting in Q2 2026, Digital Energy will launch a series of collaborative AI workshops, designed to help community members build skills around key AI topics through hands-on sessions focused on concrete use cases in the energy sector.

These workshops will provide a dedicated space to collectively explore AI-related challenges, share feedback and experience, and co-design practical solutions, with the support of domain experts.

They complement the existing Digital Energy event program and further strengthen learning dynamics, collaboration, and peer-to-peer exchange within the community.
