Company Overview
Roseau Technologies is a software provider specialized in electricity distribution grids. The company develops technical software for the power distribution sector, leveraging a triple expertise in electrical engineering, data science, and software engineering. Roseau offers utilities across Europe and Africa high-performance modeling and simulation tools that stand out for their accessibility and user-friendliness.
Challenge
Whether connecting a new user, integrating a solar PV plant, or planning a grid reinforcement, utilities rely on advanced network simulation tools daily. However, most electrotechnical software is designed for expert electrical engineering rather than the day-to-day tasks of distribution system operators’ design offices.
As a result, connection lead times are increasing, and grid investments remain suboptimal.
The Solution
Berenis is an intuitive web application dedicated to the Operator’s internal teams. Within minutes, Berenis allows you to visualize the network’s hosting capacities, anticipate the impact of new projects, and boost productivity by quickly pre-qualifying network connection requests.
How It Works
In practice
- Tools / platforms / data used
- Technologies leveraged
- Who uses it
Examples of field applications
Berenis is a SaaS application leveraging GIS and customer data. For example, it enables users to:
- Simulate the connection of a new user or power generation plant,
- Size grid reinforcements,
- Verify power quality under contingency configurations,
Impact on the Ground
Today, Berenis is used daily by Sonelec agents. The application has been instrumental in supporting a funding request for the refurbishment of the Anjouan island grid in 2025.
Results so far
The MoSiCo project confirmed the need for network simulation software tailored to the everyday tasks of utilities.
Feedback from the pilot phase directly guided the development of the software now brought to market by Roseau.
Building on the success of this first pilot, Berenis is now being rolled out across Switzerland and Senegal.
What’s next
The team is currently focused on successfully delivering recently signed projects while accelerating the rollout of Berenis across Europe and Africa.
