ICE SOLAR
The project is led by ICE Solar Commercial Power
ICE Solar is a climate technology company that uses connected finance and distributed energy resources to serve the underserved and financially excluded.

"The problem that we are targeting here is the communities and the people that are living globally in the energy access gap. So we're looking to kind of decrease this gap and increase our access to clean energy to allow them to do more." ( Emmanuel Ekwueme, Founder and CEO of Isolar)

Context
ICE Solar is focused on addressing the global energy access gap by deploying distributed solar and battery storage energy solutions for underserved small businesses.
This initiative is particularly critical in regions like Nigeria, where approximately 100 million people lack access to reliable energy, contributing to a severe socio-economic development challenge. Globally, this energy access gap affects around 750 million people.
To tackle this issue, Isolar is developing a digital dashboard for monitoring and managing distributed solar assets. Additionally, an AI-enabled predictive maintenance protocol is being implemented to ensure seamless integration with utility grids while reducing operational costs.

Objectives
The key objectives of ICE Solar's project include:
  • Reducing the energy access gap, particularly for underserved small businesses and communities, by deploying distributed solar and battery storage solutions.
  • Enhancing access to clean energy, fostering socio-economic development and increased productivity in regions affected by unreliable or non-existent electricity.
  • Improving system efficiency through the implementation of an AI-enabled predictive maintenance protocol, reducing operational costs and ensuring seamless integration with existing utility grids.

Activities
To achieve these objectives, Isolar is undertaking the following activities:
  • Deployment of distributed solar and battery storage systems to provide clean energy to underserved small businesses.
  • Development of a digital dashboard for monitoring and managing solar energy assets efficiently and in real time.
  • Implementation of AI-enabled predictive maintenance protocols to optimise system functionality, reduce downtime, and lower operational costs.

Impacts
The anticipated impacts of ICE Solar's project include:
  • Improved energy access for underserved communities and small businesses, bridging the energy access gap and empowering approximately 750 million people globally, including 100 million in Nigeria.
  • Enhanced socio-economic development, enabling small businesses to thrive and improving living conditions for communities through reliable energy solutions.
  • Increased productivity in underserved areas, allowing businesses and individuals to operate more efficiently.
  • Lower operational costs through AI-driven maintenance protocols that optimise energy system performance.
  • Environmental benefits through the adoption of clean and renewable energy sources, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and lowering carbon emissions.
