Digital Energy is a programme implemented by Agence Française de Développement with the support of the European Union, working to develop innovative digital solutions for a fair energy transition.
Digital Energy aims to
Accelerate access to energy
Reduce our dependence on fossil fuels
Improve the operational efficiency of players in the electricity sector
Electricity grids have been modernized thanks to developments in digital technology, energy storage, and aggregation and load shedding systems, which are helping to increase the share of intermittent energy.
The upgrading of information systems and the introduction of digital solutions are also improving service, knowledge and relations with customers and suppliers, helping to boost the performance of electricity operators and the viability of their business models.
Lastly, technological innovations associated with the development of stand-alone solar kits and mini-grids based on renewable or hybrid energies are helping to rethink access policies, particularly in rural areas.
These innovative digital solutions are gradually being developed and are already having a significant impact on energy systems. These innovations, in conjunction with digital technology, will be powerful levers for accelerating energy transitions.
Digital Energy offers a range of complementary instruments to support energy players in their digitalization process and, ultimately, enable the creation of partnerships between Operators and Start-ups.
The program is built around 4 levers of action:
