A project led by FUNAE & Azimut 360
FUNAE is a public institution created in 1997 that operates in Mozambique with the aim of financing and providing financial guarantees for projects that contribute to the development, production and use of low-cost energy services in rural and urban areas and to the sustainable management of these resources.
Azimut 360 SCCL is a non-profit cooperative specializing in energy needs through a sustainable and environmentally friendly development model and related projects. With more than 15 years of professional experience in the renewable energy sector, Azimut 360's team of experts has been involved in the implementation of grid-connected photovoltaic projects as well as in the setting up of autonomous rural electrification systems.
“Our complete solution incorporates user-friendly software with mapping tools to reduce site visits and suggestions to improve operations and mini-grid maintenance,” says Mireia Gil, Head of development projects at Azimut 360.
Context
FUNAE, the national agency of rural electrification in Mozambique, faces challenges in the monitoring and maintenance of its 80 mini-grids, particularly in remote areas. Site visits to collect data are time-consuming, require considerable manpower and the tools used to standardize the design and sizing of the mini-grids are insufficient. In addition, identifying suitable private operators for the operation and maintenance of the mini-grids is a complex process.
