The Digital Energy Program is proud to announce MyJouleBox as the grand winner of the first edition of the Digital Energy AI Hackathon, held in Paris on July 7, 2026.
During this day of innovation, several program laureates worked alongside Onepoint’s AI experts to transform operational challenges from the energy sector into prototypes powered by generative AI and agentic AI.
With a solution designed to centralize incidents across mini-grid electricity networks in order to improve support for field teams, MyJouleBox impressed the jury with the relevance of its approach and its potential impact. The startup will now benefit from 17 days of support from Onepoint’s AI experts to accelerate the development of its solution.
From learning to experimentation
After delivering a tailored training program on generative and agentic artificial intelligence to the community of laureates, the next step was turning knowledge into action.
On July 7 and 8, 2026, the Digital Energy Program, funded by the European Union, organized two complementary events in Paris in partnership with Onepoint: the Digital Energy AI Hackathon and the event AI x Energy: Accelerate, Deploy and Transform.
The objective was simple: to practically explore the potential of AI in the energy sector.
4 laureates, 4 AI challenges
A call for applications was first launched for all Digital Energy and I&P Digital Energy laureates, resulting in 13 applications. Following an interview phase, 4 companies were selected to participate in this first edition. Prior to the hackathon, a scoping and preparation phase was conducted with each participant to clarify the challenge to be addressed and guide the prototyping effort.
Supported throughout the day by Onepoint’s AI experts, the teams refined their challenge, structured their approach, developed a prototype demonstrating the value of their use case, and prepared their final pitch.
ICE Solar (Nigeria)
Development of a conversational agent designed to automate customer support for distributed solar energy services.
Fuel Switch (South Africa)
Automation of energy metering data quality control and verification report generation.
MyJouleBox (France)
Creation of an intelligent knowledge base designed to centralize mini-grid network incidents in order to improve support for operational teams.
Roseau Technologies (France)
Design of an assistant capable of generating and analyzing electricity grid evolution scenarios from natural language descriptions.
Prototype presentations to the ecosystem
The following day, during the AI x Energy event, the four teams presented their prototypes to more than 60 professionals from the energy, artificial intelligence and innovation sectors.
These demonstrations provided concrete examples of how AI can address real operational challenges in the energy sector.
Following the presentations, the jury, composed of representatives from Eranove, CentraleSupélec, AFD, and Onepoint, selected MyJouleBox as the winner of this first edition.
The People’s Choice Award was presented to ICE Solar for its conversational agent dedicated to customer support.
AI x Energy: AI at the heart of industry transformation
Bringing together more than 60 stakeholders from the energy, AI, and innovation ecosystems, AI x Energy provided an opportunity to explore the transformations already underway across the sector.
Through keynote sessions, experience-sharing, and peer exchanges, participants discussed in particular:
- The impact of generative AI and agentic AI on energy sector professions;
- The conditions required to move from experimentation to large-scale deployment;
- New operating models enabled by AI;
- Opportunities and challenges specific to African markets.
A panel discussion bringing together representatives from Deepki, EDF, Eranove and AWS also provided concrete insights into AI adoption within the energy sector.
Key takeaways from these two days will soon be shared with the community.
This first edition of the Digital Energy AI Hackathon demonstrates how the combination of industry expertise, technological support, and artificial intelligence can accelerate the emergence of innovative solutions that contribute to the energy transition.
Congratulations to all laureates, Onepoint’s AI experts, and the partners who contributed to making this first edition a success. 🚀⚡
