At the Finance in Common Summit (FiCS) 2025, AFD and SEforALL (Sustainable Energy for All) announced the strengthening of their collaboration to accelerate access to sustainable energy in sub-Saharan Africa as part of Mission 300, which aims to electrify 300 million people in Africa by 2030.
One of the key milestones of this initiative will be the organization of the Digital Energy Challenge in Nigeria in 2026.
The objective?
To support the digital transformation of the country’s electricity sector while exploring the potential of artificial intelligence to enhance efficiency and infrastructure management. This challenge is part of the Digital Energy program.
The AFD and SEforALL partnership also includes:
Establishing an annual dialogue and joint participation in international events to mobilize additional financing.
Using innovative financing mechanisms to catalyze investments.
Integrating existing initiatives, particularly through SEforALL’s Universal Energy Facility (UEF), and mobilizing SMEs, startups, and local operators to ensure the sustainability of electrification projects.
